By now, some fans may already know the several Kingdom Hearts 3 worlds that are set to be included in the anticipated game. Some of these worlds include the likes of Toy Story, Big Hero 6, and the return of Mount Olympus from Hercules. But what other worlds could be included in the game? Some fans speculate that the ever popular Castle Oblivion may make a comeback in Kingdom Hearts 3.
Kingdom Hearts 3 Worlds: The Return of Castle Oblivion?
Some fans now speculate that Castle Oblivion may make a return as part of the Kingdom Hearts 3 worlds roster. Considering the world’s significance in the Kingdom Hearts universe, this may actually be rather plausible. With the world’s importance in the story of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, it may ultimately make an appearance in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts sequel.
What’s so Important About Castle Oblivion?
For the uninitiated, Castle Oblivion makes its first appearance to fans in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Notably, this is where Sora and his party first encounter Organization XIII. Sora slowly loses his memories as he makes his way to the top of the castle. Upon reaching the peak, he goes to sleep in order to restore his memories.
Castle Oblivion is somewhat synonymous to Chain of Memories in that aspect. However, upon the release of Birth by Sleep, it is revealed that Castle Oblivion was known as something else. As it turned out, Castle Oblivion was originally known as the Land of Departure.
The Land of Departure is ultimately where Birth by Sleep begins. However, what’s most noteworthy about it is that, by the time the game ends, it houses the slumbering Ventus. Aqua leaves the comatose Ventus in a room found at the Land of Departure. She later transforms the world into Castle Oblivion.
Kingdom Hearts 3 footage already implies that Ventus will make a return. This would thus suggest that Castle Oblivion may make an appearance as well. The question now is if it will come back as an actual playable world or if it will simply show up as part of the story.
Some fans continue to hope that Castle Oblivion will be included as part of the playable worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3. But, seeing as Kingdom Hearts 3 still has a long way to go, any speculation could be considered at this point.
New Kingdom Hearts 3 Worlds as Downloadable Content?
Other news Kingdom Hearts 3 suggests that additions may come in the form of DLCs (downloadable content). According to reports, series director Tetsuya Nomura is prepared to venture towards DLCs should development ultimately lead to such. He shares, “Nothing is set in stone, and I’m afraid we can’t go into details, but I have told the team: Just be prepared to be able to accommodate for something like that.”
