Lauren Greutman got her family into $40,000 of debt and was forgiven. In a book that the author published, Greutman shared how she and her husband are dealing with the situation.
According to CBN, Greutman shared that she overspent hers and Mark’s money by paying a lot of bills. “We got into debt. I never told Mark we were in so much debt because I didn’t want to stress him out,” she stated.
The author remained mum about the problem until 2006 when she finally told her husband about it. She said she did not only spend the money for the bills but also tried a number of personal finance systems available.
When She Finally Admitted it, Her husband Forgave Her
When the blogger was younger, she desired to have a bunch of things and thus ended up getting addicted on spending and often times shoplifting. She brought this attitude along as she grew up.
Not to mention, Greutman watched her mother pay the bills when she was a teen. So, when Mark and she got married in 2002, she did the same thing as her mother did.
Lauren Greutman, then, admitted that she had a$40,000 debt with a running $1,000 deficit every month. “I forgive you, let’s get through this together,” Mark simply said.
Despite the situation Mark and his wife were in, they still decided to stick together and having a divorce was not an option. “When we started working together, our relationship got better and so did our relationship with God,” claimed the recovering spender.
The couple faces the trial together
In an interview posted on Amanda Abella’s official website, Lauren Greutman detailed how spending habits affected relationship. “You have to admit there’s a problem,” she said. Her case is just one of the many examples of how a loving husband forgives a wife who has put their partnership in a difficult situation.
The money expert indicated that money spenders should talk to their spouse. But, before doing that ” You have to get real with yourself before getting real with someone else.”
And after that, like what Mark and Greutman did, the couple started to sell their custom home with a $2,000-monthly mortgage. Then, they bought half the size with a $900-mortgage payment.
The couple took all extra money and saved funds. Also, from $1,000-food budget, Greutman cut it to $200 a month. She shared more on how they got through their situation on her website.
