Could Kingdom Hearts 3 gameplay actually feature other Square Enix characters? This may be a prospect worth exploring, especially if recent talks amongst fans are to be followed. In particular, there are some speculations of Square Enix’s Nier: Automata being added into the Kingdom Hearts sequel.
Will Kingdom Hearts 3 Gameplay Feature Nier: Automata?
Though unconfirmed, there is a possibility of Nier: Automata being included in Kingdom Hearts 3 gameplay. For one, both games are published by Square Enix. As many may know, the Kingdom Hearts series famously features characters from Square Enix’s Final Fantasy franchise. The same treatment may be given to Nier: Automata being implemented into Kingdom Hearts.
Some netizens speculate that Nier: Automata’s 2B could be an added character in Kingdom Hearts 3 gameplay. On the other hand, some fans argue that 2B’s character design is a little too “sexualized” to be included in the Kingdom Hearts universe. The game is still essentially a partial Disney property, so it still has a particular target market to appease.
No Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 3?
In other news relating to the upcoming Kingdom Hearts sequel, reports share that Sephiroth may not return as a secret boss. To recount, Sephiroth is a popular antagonist from Final Fantasy 7. He was featured as a secret boss in both the first Kingdom Hearts and its numbered sequel.
According to reports, there is a chance that Sephiroth may not return as a secret boss for Kingdom Hearts 3. This is due to the fact that Sephiroth may be deemed a redundant factor in Kingdom Hearts. Both main Kingdom Hearts games already feature him as a secret boss, after all. Such a notion is shared even by series director Tetsuya Nomura himself.
“In terms of the secret boss, we can’t say anything at this time,” shares Nomura in a recent interview. “But in terms of Sephiroth specifically, my development team are worried that we’ve had him come back so many times, so they’re worried it might be redundant at this point. We’re still deliberating on it.”
Kingdom Hearts 3 Downloadable Content
On the other hand, Nomura and his team are also preparing for the possibility of downloadable content (DLC) being part of the Kingdom Hearts 3 package. Such has yet to be an assured prospect. Still, Nomura shares that he has already warned his team to be prepared for such an approach.
“Nothing is set in stone,” clarifies Nomura, “and I’m afraid we can’t go into details, but I have told the team: Just be prepared to be able to accommodate for something like that.” Kingdom Hearts 3 DLCs could address a number of things. They may include new worlds, for one.
Alternatively, they may include special bosses for players to encounter. Interestingly, this may be a way for Nomura to include Sephiroth into Kingdom Hearts 3. With this approach, the character may not necessarily make an imperative impact to the overall gameplay and story.
