A man who lost his sense of belonging and got involved in drug addiction found his way back to God. Now he is one of God’s disciples spreading his inspiring story and the word of his master.
The man who was filled with questions
At the age of seven, Michael found out that the one who raised him was not his real father. The hard truth and the feeling of emptiness just made him want to die.
He said everything was hard for him and the feeling of emptiness was worsening. But things changed when his friend invited him to church.
Michael said he instantly felt he was part of a huge family when he joined the church. While being actively involved in the church, Michael used his talent in music. He played worship songs for the other members.
However, when he was 18, Michael began to question God after his close friend died in a car accident. He said he was angry and confused at that time.
Michael said he resorted to alcohol just to forget the pain. He said getting drunk was the only solution he knew at that time.
But the pain and loneliness eventually devoured Michael. He left his home and church behind and found a new group of musicians who persuaded him to use drugs.
“I would still have a hole,” Michael said. “I’d still have a hole in my soul that I didn’t fill.” Michael continued on pretending that he was okay although he knew deep inside that he was lonely.
Then another challenge came to Michael’s life, a flood destroyed everything he owned. “I lost my apartment. I lost my car. I lost my job,” he recalled. “It all happened at once.” Michael had no belongings left, and to top it all his friends left him when he had no drugs to offer.
After he lost everything, Michael wandered aimlessly through the streets. He slept wherever he could. He experienced sleeping in an abandoned home and in the back of cars.
The day he returned to God
He felt dirty at that time and believed that God already disowned him because of the things he had done. But one night Michael met a pastor who gave him a room.
While resting, Michael found a bible and began reading it. He then placed the bible into his heart and began asking God how he managed to get into the church.
He then heard a voice saying to him that “he didn’t leave.” It was then Michael realized that although he turned his back to God and tried to run away from him, God was always there for him. He was just waiting for Michael’s return.
After realizing that God was there for him the whole time and He was the one who kept him safe, Michael found peace and felt he was home again. From then on, Michael stopped using drugs and became a pastor in a church.
Michael is just one the many people who have inspiring stories to tell. For instance, Eddie who also struggled with drug addiction experienced God’s miracle and a couple who has twins strongly believe that one of their sons is still alive because of God.
